Information for co-op teachers

2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR UPDATE:  Due to the organizational impacts of COVID-19, we regret that we will not be able to offer high school co-op placements for this school year. Students who are interested in volunteering in client programs are encouraged to visit the March Break Volunteer and Summer Volunteer pages for more information about available volunteer opportunities.

We will provide an update on this page in Spring 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year, and look forward to welcoming students back for these placement opportunities at a later date. When placements resume, students may be required to participate in the hospital's COVID-19 active screening process and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Students may be required to wear a mask and goggles/face shield for the duration of a placement shift. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided by the hospital.

The following document is for co-op teachers to review: Information sheet for Co-op Teachers

In order to ensure that students are able to maintain punctuality and attendance, we strongly recommend that travel time to or from the student's home school to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital or one of our satellite nursery school locations not exceed:

- 40 minutes by public transportation or;

- 40 minutes driving time if the student will have ongoing access to a reliable private vehicle throughout their co-op placement.

We ask that co-op teachers make contact with Volunteer Resources, 416-422-7033 or to inquire about availability for the student's placement. For tracking purposes please provide the student's name and schedule.

If the Co-op student meets the criteria given in the information sheet, please ask them to proceed to step 3 below.
